They tried to downplay the moment, but after giving up a 3-0 lead to a feisty Boston team, the relief was visible on the Knicks players faces after their 88-80 win over the Celtics sealed their place in the next round of the playoffs.
New York learned that it's hard to close out an opponent - especially one as proud as this Celtic group - and even had another scare when the C's went on a 20-0 run in the final quarter (the score was 75-49 when Boston began it's late surge), but the Knicks held on.
After the game Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton spoke about New York's first series win since the 2000 season.

The Celtics have come to life the past two games and the series against the Knicks has come to life. Led by veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce the Celtics defeated the Knicks 92-86 at Madison Square Garden, but also received key contributions from guys like Brandin Bass and Jeff Green who finished with 18 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter.

Amar'e Stoudemire has been steadily improving game-by-game ever since he returned from injury earlier in the season, despite that, the Knicks maintain they will keep his minutes capped at 30 per game in an effort to keep the star forward fresh - and to benefit his long-term health as well.

It wasn't necessarily easy work, but the Lakers escaped Barclays Center with a win last night over the Nets. After the game Kobe Bryant - who threw down a vintage Bryant slam late in the final quarter - spoke on his first trip to Brooklyn (he said it was the first time ever he'd been to the borough), his thoughts on the Lakers going forward, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard's injuries, and of course, that dunk.

It was just another day at the office for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight, except for the fact that Carmelo Anthony was celebrating a Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl win from the night before. Anthony ended up finishing the easy 99-85 win with 27 points (10/17 field goal shooting), 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
