The crossover. Tim Hardaway popularized it during the early years of his career, his move was so devastating that TV analysts dubbed it the 'UTEP 2 Step' after the university that Hardaway attended. but, for the modern generation of basketball fans Allen Iverson is credited with taking it to another level. Watch any highlights of Iverson and more often than not they include a defender laying on his back, ankles broken watching as A.I. drops another deuce on them. Of course the crossover in his rookie season on Michael Jordan serves as one of the iconic memories of the diminutive point guard.

A go-ahead three-pointer by their German superstar gave them a lead they didn't relinquish. Dirk Nowitzki, who was maligned for apparently fading during the 2006 Finals loss, stepped up his play once again for the Mavs...

Written by Nick Metallinos    Thursday, 26 May 2011 14:02    PDF Print E-mail
Although the Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated yesterday by the Dallas Mavericks it is just the beginning of what should be many deep runs into the Western Conference playoffs for many years to come. A loss is still a loss nonetheless and no matter how hard you try to focus on the positives sometimes the emotion of the moment gets the better of you. During yesterday's press conference Kevin Durant (wearing his now customary backpack) was asked (foolishly) if he was happy that Dirk...

Written by Nick Metallinos    Wednesday, 25 May 2011 14:24    PDF Print E-mail
Teams that are down 3-1 in playoff series rarely come back to win. As Stuart Scott of ESPN likes to remind us all ad-nauseum, only eight teams have achieved such a feat. The Oklahoma City Thunder understand the magnitude of the task in front of them but have not lost hope, at least publicly. Written by Nick Metallinos    Tuesday, 24 May 2011 14:25    PDF Print E-mail
Kevin Durant started yesterday's game against the Dallas Mavericks perfectly, 5-5 from the field to be exact. The way he ended it was less than perfect however. Durant was scoreless for the final five minutes of regulation and the whole overtime period. In that time the Mavericks erased a 15 point deficit, a sequence which included the scoring champ having his game winning three-point attempt blocked at the buzzer by Shawn Marion. Durant later admitted he didn't think he had any...
