Each year fans hope that the dunk contest will indeed be 'back', and ultimately are left disappointed. Last night's event, touted by analyst Kenny Smith to be one of the top 10 of all-time prior to it beginning, was relatively boring until the final round of the competition when defending champ Jeremy Evans and Toronto's Terrence Ross faced off.

Both guys came with some impressive dunks, and in the end the fans voted for Ross who ended his evening with a pretty jam over a small child. The Raptors guard even wore a throwback jersey with 2000 dunk champ Vinca Carter's name on it.

Ross said afterwards that he felt pressure (wearing the jersey) but wanted to pay homage.

“I feel blessed, but it’s still overwhelming. Just trying to soak it all in,” said Ross. “I think it was just paying homage to guys who did this before me. DeMar’s (DeRozan) helped me a great deal, so I thought I’d kind of take his advice, kind of do something to honour (Carter).”
