With Miami's win over the Toronto Raptors ensuring the team leads the Eastern Conference, it is also sealed the All-Star head coaching nod for the Heat's Erik Spoelstra. Miami finished a half-game ahead of New York for the best record in the East, Spoelstra edging out Mike Woodson at the deadline.

After Miami's win Spoelstra said he was honored to be coaching the East All-Star team.

“First and foremost, we’re happy we have the No. 1 spot in a very competitive Eastern Conference,” Spoelstra said. “We’ve been talking about a championship hangover and things of that nature. …We’re starting to play better basketball in the last three or four weeks, so it is an honor to the staff and a big-time credit to the players.”

The Western All-Star team will be coached by San Antonio's Gregg Popovich.

“It will be just like it has been in the past: a heck of an opportunity to enjoy amazing talent,” Popovich said. “That’s not just a b.s. or trite statement. It’s true. When you’re around those guys, you look around the room, and you can’t believe you’re in the same room with them. It’s a huge honor just to be a part of it.”
