Take one look at some of the figures from Forbes Magazine's most valuable NBA franchises and you may wonder why we even had a lockout last season. As to be expected the big market teams dominate the top of the rankings list, with the New York Knicks rated as the most valuable ($1.1 billion), followed by the Los Angeles Lakers ($1 billion), Chicago Bulls ($800 million), the Boston Celtics ($730 million) and the Dallas Mavericks round out the top five ($685 million).

The defending champion Miami Heat come in at sixth with a value of $625 million, but one of the more interesting things of note is that the Nets move to Brooklyn from New Jersey resulted in a 48% increase in that team's overall value, now ranked ninth on the list with a value of $530 million.

As expected, the bottom two teams were the Charlotte Bobcats and the Milwaukee Bucks in last place on the rankings.
