Josh Smith clearly took that 39-point beating at the hands of the Bulls seriously - and to heart as well. Smith's lingering anger boiled over behind the scenes yesterday leading to a one-game suspension imposed by the Atlanta Hawks for "conduct detrimental to the team." The Hawks have not revealed what happened to lead to the suspension, but Smith has made a public apology via a statement released earlier today. "Clearly I am competitive and was frustrated by our recent losses," Smith said in a statement released by the team. "I understand and respect the team's actions and just want to get back on the court to do whatever is necessary to help my teammates. I apologize for letting them down and apologize to our fans for not being available for tonight's game." Smith will miss the Hawks home game with Brooklyn tonight, but will be with the team when they travel to face the Nets on Friday in New York. The enigmatic forward becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
