|Carmelo Anthony Suspended One Game By NBA|
Despite his insistence that he had done nothing wrong by trying to confront Kevin Garnett in the bowels of Madison Square Garden on Monday night, the NBA league office disagreed and have suspended Carmelo Anthony for one-game for confronting Kevin Garnett in the tunnel. Anthony had taken umbrage to trash talk from the Boston veteran throughout the game and attempted to get into the Celtics lockers once the game had finished before being restrained by security and staff.
Anthony later waited for Garnett by the Boston team bus and exchanged some heated words with him which was captured on video. Stu Jackson explained the NBA's decision to suspend Anthony.
"There are no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game," NBA executive vice president basketball operations Stu Jackson said in a statement. "Carmelo Anthony attempted to engage with Kevin Garnett multiple times after Monday's game and therefore a suspension was warranted."
Anthony will serve the suspension tomorrow night when the Knicks travel to Indiana to face the Pacers, but will be in uniform for Friday night's game at The Garden versus the Bulls.
