For all of Kobe's crticism about his Lakers teammates being "old", he has also admitted that this season he is playing some of his best basketball to date in his career. After his team's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, Kobe had this to say about the insipid performance: "What do you want? We just got to figure out how to play when we don't have that energy,” said Bryant. “We got to change things up a little bit defensively. We got to figure out what we want to do offensively, figure out what we want to do on nights when we don't have those legs or have that energy. “You just saw an old damn team. I don't know how else to put it to you. We're just slow." Many expected a similar showing against the far more athletic Clipper team in tonight's Battle for L.A. showdown at Staples Center. Kobe had other ideas early on, he didn't look old on this move. Chris Paul will attest to that.
“Cause we’re old as [expletive],” Bryant told ESPN.com, using a bowel movement to explain why the Lakers have shown a lack of energy at times this year. “What do you want? We just got to figure out how to play when we don’t have that energy.”
