|Bynum's Agent Says He's Had No Contract Extension Talks With Lakers|
The Los Angeles Lakers, specifically Mitch Kupchak, and the agent for Andrew Bynum have had discussions in recent days, but none of the talks have centered on a possible contract extension for All-Star pivot, Andrew Bynum.
Bynum's agent, David Lee, says that reports stating the two sides had discussed an extension were wrong.
“I saw the report,” Lee said of media accounts in which Kupchak said last week that the Lakers had begun discussions about an extension. “I think Mitch’s comment was that we had ‘a cordial and productive’ conversation. It was cordial and it was productive, but it had nothing to do with an extension.”
Lee added that he and his client have not even discussed whether he will hold out and sign a new free agent deal next summer, or if he wants to commit long-term to the Lakers now. Bynum would be eligible for a maximum five-year, $101.9 million deal if he signs next summer.
