It's still not certain whether center Dwight Howard will be on the roster come opening night for the Orlando Magic, but what we do know is that former Spur Jacque Vaughn will be patroling the sidelines as the franchise's new head coach. The announcement came earlier today but the Magic will formally introduce the 37-year old at a press conference on Monday. Vaughn replaces the void left by Stan Van Gundy's firing in May.

General Manager Rob Hennigan explained via a team statement the reasons why Vaughn was selected over other candidates including, Lindsey Hunter and Michael Curry.

"As we navigated through our coaching search, we quickly saw that Jacque's spirit and leadership strengths made him the clear choice," Hennigan said in a statement. "We are confident that his diligence, attention to detail and communication style will help establish the bedrock of our culture moving forward. His commitment and passion to building a sustainable program will help steer our organization for years to come."

Dwight Howard reiterated his trade demand out of Orlando earlier this week and it still remains to be seen whether he will be on the Magic's roster when the season begins.
