Supreme confidence, or just plain deluded? For a team that has yet to prove they are able to gel on the floor it is safe to say it may be the latter of the two but that hasn't stopped Amar'e Stoudemire from claiming that this next NBA season will be a waste if the Knicks don't get a 'chip. It's tough to back that up when you've only won one playoff game in over a decade but the All-Star forward wants his troops to use Miami's mentality when they take on teams next season.
“They [Miami] take the game very serious, and also they believe that anything less than a championship is a wasted season,” Stoudemire said. “We have to take that same mentality going into next year ... anything less than a championship is a wasted season.”
Stoudemire still maintains the Knicks just need a full training camp together and all problems with the starting unit will be solved.
“ Well, first of all, we have to have a full season together, and a full training camp,” Stoudemire said. “That’s the first part is having that full training camp, so Coach Woodson can implement his full strategy on both ends of the court, and we can continue to practice together and work as a unit, and then we can go from there.”
Wishful thinking perhaps?
