The Boston Celtics bench just got a little deeper with news that the franchise had acquired Courtney Lee in a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets. Lee, a coveted unrestricted fee agent because the Rockets did not make the 25-year old a qualifying offer, will be going to Boston in exchange for JaJuan Johnson and a package of draft picks according to the report in the Boston Globe. Boston could not offer Lee the deal he desired outright therefore needed to propose a sign-and-trade to the Rockets which Houston gladly accepted. Lee averaged 11.4 points per game last season and will now join a Boston team which will be getting back both Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox - both returning from heart surgeries - and also added Jared Sullinger via the draft. The Boston versus Miami rivalry seems destined to continue next season as the C's have ammassed a roster of players capable of contending once again. |
