One of basketball's good guys is making a return to the hardwood. Brandon Roy, who retired in December due to chronic knee concerns, is coming back after agreeing to a two-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the deal cannot be officially signed until July 11 though.

Roy averaged 19.0ppg, 4.3rpg and 4.7 apg in his five seasons with Portland but maintained in recent months that there was still some basketball left in him as speculation mounted that he was considering a comeback. Teams interested in the three-time All-Star included the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland, Dallas and Golden State, ultimately Roy decided that his veteran presence was best utilised on a rising squad like the Wolves.

Minnesota's Derrick Williams - who wore No.7 last season - welcomed Roy with a tweet.

"Welcome Brandon Roy," tweeted Williams. "(No.) 7 is all yours."

Signing with Minnesota is a home-coming of sorts for Roy - he was originally drafted 6th by the Wolves only to be dealt to Portland on draft night.
