Talks between the Phoenix Suns and the Knicks to bring Steve Nash to New York are heating up. The two sides are trying to hammer out an agreement in which the two-time MVP will become a Knick in a sign-and-trade scenario, no deal has been finalised but the sticking point is Iman Shumpert. The Suns are insisting the player be a part of the deal and although the Knicks are reluctant, they are prepared to part ways with the promising Shumpert for a chance at Nash. One source close to the talks told ESPN.com: "The Knicks don't want to trade (Shumpert), but they will if they have to. They want Nash."
If the Knicks and Suns can come to terms on a deal, Nash would receive a three-year contract in the $25 million range while Phoenix would receive Shumpert and a handful of cap-friendly contracts such as Toney Douglas, Josh Harrellson and Jerome Jordan.
Also in contention for Nash are the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers.
