Eric Gordon will sign the max offer sheet from the Phoenix Suns on July 11th, but the New Orleans Hornets have given every indication that they will match the deal and keep the sought after shooting guard. Phoenix's deal is believed to be for 4-years, and worth roughly $58 million, once Gordon signs the Hornets will have three-days to match the offer or watch the man acquired for Chris Paul walk away for nothing.

Gordon though has told media that he would prefer to play for the Suns rather than New Orleans.

"After visiting the Suns, the impression the organization made on me was incredible," Gordon said in a statement. "Mr. (Robert) Sarver, Lon Babby, Lance Blanks, the Front Office Staff and Coach (Alvin) Gentry run a first-class organization, and I strongly feel they are the right franchise for me. Phoenix is just where my heart is now."

New Orleans were hoping that Gordon and rookie Anthony Davis would form the nucleus of a rising squad in the Western Conference. It could still happen if they decide to match the offer.
