The agent for point guard Ramon Sessions says his client, acquired by Los Angeles at the mid-point way of the season, will not opt-in the final year of his deal and will become a free agent this summer. He added this does not mean that Sessions intends to leave the Lakers, merely that his client is exploring all avenues available to him. Sessions had until Wednesday to decide on his option, free agency begins June 30 at 9 p.m.

“Ramon has carefully considered this decision,” said Sessions’ agent, Jared Karnes. “He had to make a career decision and ultimately decided to do what was best in providing stability and longevity for him in the NBA, and this could only be achieved through a multi-year contract.”

Sessions has played for Milwaukee, Minnesota and the Cavaliers before coming to L.A. at the trade deadline in a deal that sent Luke Walton, Jason Kapono, under $1 million in cash and a first-round pick to the Cavaliers.
