He may have retired from the Blazers prior to the 2011-12 season beginning, but Brandon Roy hasn't retired from basketball. The former Portland shooting guard confirmed via his friend's Twitter account that he will be attempting a return to basketball; it will not be with the Trailblazers however. Due to NBA rules Roy is not permitted to play with Portland again until the 2014-15 season.
“Lord willing, I will play again soon,” Roy wrote in a series of tweets. “Yes, I’m preparing for a comeback. I’m training daily. I’m preparing for a return next year. I appreciate the love. Hopefully I’ll be back on the floor soon. Health is good.” "Due to the NBA rules I cannot play in Portland until 2014-2015,” Roy tweeted. “I’m looking to return sooner. Thanks for your support. I’m fortunate to have played for such a great fan base. No matter where I play, Portland will always have a special place in my heart.” Roy retired in December due to knee injuries after five seasons with Portland, he averaged 19.0ppg, 4.3rpg and 4.7 apg during his time there and was a three-time All-Star. Reports first emerged in February that the 2006-07 Rookie of the Year was considering a comeback, and Roy has been working out daily in preparation since then for his comeback.
