Earlier today Miami's LeBron James was officially named the NBA's Most Valuable Player and accepted his trophy. James invited his teammates onto the podium to help him accept the trophy from Commisioner Stern : a gracious gesture that James has been doing since high-school when he receives individual accolades. He was named MVP for a season in which he averaged 27.1 points per game, 1.85 steals, 6.2 assists and 7.9 rebounds . He also was 11th in field goal percentage with an efficient 53.1% clip. During his speech James said he was honored to be a three-time winner of the award - just the eighth overall player to have captured it that many times - but admitted he would give them all up for a Championship trophy. “This is very overwhelming to me as an individual award. But this is not the award I want, ultimately. I want that Championship. That’s all that matters to me,” James said. “I would give all three of them back for an NBA Championship.”
