J.R. Smith was quick on the trigger last night. Not in the Knicks Game 5 loss to the Heat - he shot just 3/15 from the field - but rather on Twitter. The mercurial Knicks guard was retweeting fans responses to one of the worst shooting nights he's had since coming back to the NBA from China. While some were positive, many did not have kind words to say about the performance of Smith telling him they preferred he wasn't a part of their team. Smith responded by posting, “Damn didn’t know this [many] people didn’t want me in #NY might just get what you asking for! #sorrykidz.” Smith has a player option for next season at $2.5 million, if he declines to pick it up he will become an unrestricted free agent. He says he would like to return to the Knicks but also wants similar money to what he was getting paid in Denver (roughly $7-8 million per). After the game the New Jersey-native had nothing but praise for the organization. "I haven’t given it [leaving] any thought. I’ve got to talk to a lot of people. We’ll see what happens,” Smith said. “I was just sitting here looking at my jersey and just thinking about what could happen. But hopefully I’m here. I love New York. I love the coaches. The whole franchise has been great to me. I love the players.”
