Brandon Roy is considering a return to basketball according to a report first published by Eurobasket.com. The former Portland guard retired just prior to the beginning of the season citing the degeneration in his knees as the primary reason. The franchise exercised the amnesty clause from the new collective bargaining agreement - releasing Roy and removing his salary from its salary cap - therefore he is not eligible to return to the organization until his current contract expires following the 2014-15 season. Roy said he had been following his former teammates during the current shortened season and said it was tough to do so. ‘'It burns being away from the game and watching the entire season from the outside,’ a frustrated Roy said as he followed the shortened 2011-12 NBA season from his living room couch. "It’s hard being away from the game. Don’t be surprised if you see Brandon Roy make his way back to the court.’' Roy also hinted that the decision to retire wasn't all health related, although he failed to elaborate further. ‘'There’s something to it, but it’s not the right time for me to get into it right now,’ Roy said. ‘I’ve been doing some treatment and I’m trying to leave the window open to returning to basketball.’'
