Standing on a crowded E train headed to 34th Street Penn Station,then walking through busy New York streets, I get chill bumps and it has nothing to with the relatively cold mid-March weather. As much fun as it was hanging out in the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers press rooms, this is the Garden. Decades of history in the one building. You name a sporting event and it has likely been held here. Rivalries were forged here, some were sheer wars (hello mid-nineties Miami Heat), there is an aura surrounding this building, as I've said it is indescribable. You literally have to walk through the corridors and see images of past greats, any basketball junkie would understand what I'm on about.
It's a thrill everytime I walk into... |

| Prior to the second game on my journey a sudden media briefing has been called in the press room. Due to my sleeping in late because of jetlag I left the hotel a little late therefore my arrival at Staples center was late. A lady informs me that the media will be briefed on the 'incident' at 12:20 pm. Later I find out that an intruder made his way inside the arean with a knife and attempted to take the place to siege. He was overpowered by police using a bean bag gun. Yes that's... |

| It's been an arduous journey to say the least. Fifteen hours in the air, two delayed flights, severe lack of sleep and jetlag. The words of The Game still ringing in my ears from the flight , "California ain't a state, it's an army". I made it though. Starting5 is currently in the inner sanctum of the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. I could only dream about this type of thing when I was a kid. It's the next best thing to being in the NBA.  When we got the phone call from the good people at adidas last month asking us if we would like to test run the latest Derrick Rose adiZero signature series, the answer was most definitely a resounding YES! I had been looking for an excuse to stop writing about basketball and go out and actually play it with a purpose once again.
