GAME RECAP : Miami Heat At New Jersey Nets

What a unbelievable journey it has been so far. Seven games, four at Madison Square Garden, two in Los Angeles and now the final one in New Jersey. Having caught two transit trains across the Hudson (I got off on the wrong stop first up) I arrive at the Prudential Center. It's actually a nice looking arena from the outside.  Aside from the games at MSG this is the game I've been most looking forward to seeing. I wanted to see the big, bad Miami Heat team in person. I wanted to see them in their first year together, it's just something about seeing a potential dynasty form right in front of your eyes, I want to see how they've meshed. If I can tell you one thing for certain it's that TV doesn't always do ball...

GAME RECAP : New Jersey Nets At New York Knicks

Madison Square Garden for the local derby between the Nets and the Knicks, the night is tinged with sadness however as it will be my last game at the Mecca on my trip. I've repeated this ad nauseum but I could easily spend a whole season covering the Knicks. They fascinate me. Following a horror run of 6 losses in a row the Knicks finally won against Orlando in overtime the other night. A game I missed mind you because I was at the Lil Wayne concert in Long Island. My run of Knick games...

GAME RECAP : Milwaukee Bucks At New York Knicks
Written by Nick Metallinos    Saturday, 26 March 2011 15:50    PDF Print E-mail
I realize I'm becoming a little spoiled, I'm now accustomed to attending NBA games here at Madison Square Garden. Here for my third game in five nights but this time I have a vested interest as well. Our very own Andrew Bogut and his Milwaukee Bucks are in town. Despite underachieving after pre-season considerations of dark horse material for the Eastern crown, the Bucks are not out of playoff contention just yet. 35-36 heading into tonight's game and facing a Knicks squad which...

GAME RECAP :Orlando Magic At New York Knicks

Back at Madison Square Garden for the Knicks hosting the Magic. I get here an hour early because there is something special about being in this arena. Plus I like to watch the teams warm-up prior to the game.As I walk to the press area I find that so many tourists are here, impeding my path as they walk slowly to their seats, lost. Can't they see us regulars are in a rush?  First on court is Mr Big Shot, Chauncey Billups. The Knicks are 1-5 since his return and it will be upon him...

GAME RECAP : Celtics/Knicks From Madison Square Garden
Written by Nick Metallinos    Monday, 21 March 2011 22:20    PDF Print E-mail
Standing on a crowded E train headed to 34th Street Penn Station, then walking through busy New York streets, I get chill bumps and it has nothing to with the relatively cold mid-March weather. As much fun as it was hanging out in the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers press rooms, this is the Garden. Decades of history in the one building. You name a sporting event and it has likely been held here. Rivalries were forged here, some were sheer wars (hello mid-nineties Miami Heat), there is an...
