od·ys·sey/ˈädəsē/ Noun: A long and eventful journey

Adris Deleon took the road less travelled on his road to becoming a professional basketballer. His long journey to the Australian NBL began in the Dominican Republic, a small country of less than 10 million people in the Caribbean, saw him forge a reputation holding down summer league's in New York City for almost a decade - throw in a couple of stops in Europe -  before landing on the Gold Coast to play with the Blaze this season. The relaxed, laidback lifestyle of the Coast and it's sandy beaches are about as far removed from the gritty Washington Heights streets that you could possibly...

Jamar Wilson : A Bronx Tale
Written by Nick Metallinos    Tuesday, 27 December 2011 09:41    PDF Print E-mail
It's just after 9pm on Thursday, December 22, the outside temperature still hovering in the mid-20's. Written by Nick Metallinos    Tuesday, 26 July 2011 01:59    PDF Print E-mail
Rap duo 'Clipse' rapped about being "kinda like a big deal," the streetball game of the decade at Dyckman Park last Wednesday was a big deal. The build-up reached proportions not seen in New York since possibly the famed 2003 (non) showdown between Fat Joe's team and Jay Z's 'S.Carter' teams. Team Nike facing off with Ooh-Way Records as most of New York City clamored for a ticket to the event. Part of the Ooh-Way backcourt was former Melbourne Tigers floor...

Starting5 Speak With Andrew Bogut
Written by Nick Metallinos    Tuesday, 19 July 2011 17:42    PDF Print E-mail
As Australians we support our fellow countrymen. We'll support Aussie's in sports we've never even heard of just because. When an athlete reaches a particular level in their career in a global sport such as basketball, the whole nation becomes infatuated with their every move. Andrew Bogut is at that level right now. Prior to his arm injury in April of 2010 (we won't re-hash the gory details again, google it if you haven't seen it) Bogut was on track to become...
