Five games into the Brooklyn Nets season the novelty of being the new kid of the block has worn off. Now it's time to start winning some basketball games; especially since their city rivals, the Knicks, have gotten off to such a heady start. The Nets bounced back with another win against the Orlando Magic tonight (82-74) - completing a sweep of their home-and-home series - but not before another scare, the Magic almost erased a 20-point lead that Brooklyn had built up.
A key for consistent Nets wins is getting their much-talked about back-court duo Deron Williams and Joe Johnson on the same page. So far this season Johnson is struggling through his worst statistical output since the 2002-03 season with the Phoenix Suns as he... |

| The Maturation Of J.R. Smith Crucial To Knicks |

Ask the New York Knicks which player is most crucial to the team making a deep playoff run and invariably the answer almost always comes back: J.R. Smith. The Knicks sixth man - now firmly entrenched, and accepting of the role - has always been considered a mercurial guard, capable of shooting you in, and out, of a game with any type of shot you could imagine.
Season 2012-13 has brought some change in Smith's game. He's playing much more under control - and within the confines of... |

As the clock wound down on an impressive come-from-behind win for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brandon Roy was on the sideline watching. He'd spent most of the final quarter - as the Wolves clawed their way back from 22-points down in the third - cheering his teammates on just a few spots down from head coach Rick Adelman. It was unfamiliar territory for a guy so accustomed to having the ball in his hand with the game on the line.
Brandon Roy is no longer the guy from that amazing... |

As if wanting to disabuse the notion that the opening night destruction of the Miami Heat was a fluke, the Knicks came out earlier today and handled their business against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers. It wasn't just about the win though, it was the way the Knicks dismantled Doug Collins team. For the second consecutive game the Knicks played an aggressive - yet selfless - brand of basketball, one that hasn't been seen at Madison Square Garden since the pre-Melo days.
Funnily... |

It was an emotional opening night for the New York Knicks. It was the game that had to be played. After the devastating effects Hurricane Sandy plunged the Big Apple into uncertainty - forcing the postponement of the much anticipated game with the Brooklyn Nets - the city needed some relief from the week long crisis. Even if it was just for a few hours. From the moment Anthony took the microphone at the beginning of the night to acknowledge the city's plight, right through to the final... |

The Brooklyn Nets are coming. You've probably heard that by now, and if you live in the Tri-State area you have definitely seen it.
It's 2:50pm on the Sunday before Labor Day in the US, downtown Brooklyn is a hive of activity; locals out for a stroll and shopping litter the streets, but it is construction workers still frantically trying to finish the Nets new home that is of most interest. There's just over 25 days until part owner Jay Z opens the new state-of-the-art arena... |

The Miami Heat team that we saw play with such confidence and exuberance during the regular season was made to look average and lost in yesterday’s Game 3 loss in Indiana. An unfamiliar situation for the South Florida stars. Could this be attributed to the absence of power forward Chris Bosh? It might be argued that because of Bosh’s non-availability, the Heat lost their composure more importantly, their faith and confidence. But some of the blame is laid at Dwyane... |

| Where To For Derrick Rose And The Bulls? |

I am absolutely shattered this evening. It's just how I'm feelin' at this time. Yes, the Chicago Bulls opened their playoff campaign with a victory but the win comes at a price, superstar (reigning MVP) point guard Derrick Rose is sidelined for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Read between the lines and "remainder of the season" will also include the London Olympics, all of the pre-season and likely, a small chunk of the beginning of the 2012-13... |

| Knicks Future Looking Bright Again |

All of a sudden a future that seemed bleak on two fronts last week is brightening by the day for the New York Knicks and point guard Jeremy Lin. A week ago the city of New York, already shattered that pre-season expectations of a Championship were seemingly unrealistic, was contemplating whether head coach had the basketball smarts to turn a lackluster squad into a winner. Some called for his head, trade Stoudemire and Chandler for Dwight Howard, offered others but the general consensus was... |
